Minehut now properly supports UDP ports, allowing for plugins such as SimpleVoiceChat to work.
Reminder: As a server owner, you are still expected to moderate voice chat; you cannot encourage or allow users to break our global network rules. We do, however, understand the difficulties of moderating voice chat and will work with you to the best of our abilities.
Requirements
- This guide is for internal servers only; externals can set up SimpleVoiceChat the normal way.
- A paid server plan is required for this to work; Minehut does not offer custom ports to free servers.
Setup
- To get started, create a new UDP port on the dashboard; go to https://dashboard.minehut.com/ and manage your server.
Go to Settings -> Scroll down until you see Ports -> Create a new UDP port, set the internal value to5000

- Keep track of the Internal Port and the External URL & Port
The Internal Port is the one we set to5000above - The External Port and URL are given to you automatically on the dashboard; it should look something like:ext1.minehut.me:12345
- Once you have created your port, make sure you have SimpleVoiceChat installed on your server as a plugin/mod
- Stop, then Force Hibernate your server; ports only work after the server has hibernated at least once. Once done, start your server up.
- Go to File Manager -> Go to the SimpleVoiceChat plugin config (located at
/plugins/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties)
- Inside this config file, you want to set the following values:
Setportto the Internal Port (example:port=5000based on the port we chose above) - Setbind_addressto be*(example:bind_address=*) - Setvoice_hostto be<External URL>:<External Port>(example:voice_host=ext1.minehut.me:59523) Note: Make sure not to just copy-paste this example; yours will be different!

- Save the file, then restart the server. SimpleVoiceChat should now work on your server.
Troubleshooting
If your setup is not working properly, here are some troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure you hibernated the server after setting up the port.
- Make sure the port you created was a
UDPport,TCPdoes NOT work. - Make sure
voice_hostis set to the generated value for you on the dashboard, and make sure there is nohttp://orhttps://in front. That value should contain only the IP and port. - Make sure you installed the correct SimpleVoiceChat plugin or mod; for most servers, this will be the
Paperdownload on the Modrinth page linked above.
