SFTP is a feature that allows you to easily download and upload files to your server, directly from your computer! This is perfect for downloading a large amount of files, uploading a large world or even uploading all of your server files to Minehut all at once! If you're looking to migrate your existing Minecraft server over to Minehut, SFTP makes this a simple process.
⚠️ Note: To use SFTP you must be on a paid server plan
📥 Step 1: Download, Install and Run FileZilla
In this guide we will be using the free SFTP program known as FileZilla. If you haven't installed FileZilla yet, you can download it from their website here. It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
After the installation is complete, please launch FileZilla.
🌐 Step 2: Connecting to Minehut SFTP
Please go to your server dashboard and click the "Activate" button on your server. If your server is already online, proceed by clicking the "Manage" button.
Located within the "Settings" tab, scroll down to find the following SFTP information which is specific to your individual server:
Next, locate the connection bar at the top of the FileZilla window:
Please enter the following connection information:
Host: sftp://ftp.minehut.com
Username: <Shown on your server dashboard>
Password: <Shown on your server dashboard>
Port: 2223
Once the information has been entered, proceed by clicking the "Quickconnect" button:
📂 Step 3: View and transfer files between your Minehut server & computer
Once connected, you'll see two main panels. The left panel displays your local (computer) files, and the right panel shows the files on your Minehut server.
You can double click any folder you see to enter the directory, which will allow you to see additional files within the folder. All of your Minehut server files are located within the main "server" directory.
To upload a file from your computer to the server, simply drag it from the left panel to the right panel. To download a file from the server to your computer, drag it from the right panel to the left panel.
You can rename or delete files by right-clicking on them. Please note that any changes you make to your files are permanent unless you have a backup, so please be careful! You can learn more about creating backups by clicking here.
💡 Additional Tips:
- We suggest checking the "Stats" tab of your server dashboard to see how much disk space your server is using before uploading any large files. All of our server plans have 20GB of disk space available by default, upgradable to 40GB with a custom plan. Maxing out all of your server disk space can prevent your server from working and may require a customer support ticket to resolve.
- You will need to ensure that your server remains online for large file transfers to be successful, this can be accomplished by using a server plan that has the 24/7 option or keeping your Minecraft account logged into the server to prevent it from hibernating due to inactivity.
- Transferring large files can take some time depending on the speed and stability of your internet connection. You will see a progress bar while the transfer is happening with an estimated completion time.
